One thing to note about ‘Some Like it Hip Hop’ is that although it’s a Sadler’s Wells production, it’s actually showing at the Peacock Theatre. We didn’t realise this, so we hastily hailed a cab and zoomed from Angel to Holborn. A bit flustered, we took our seats. We did separate reviews so you get two opinions for the price of one! There's a chance to win tickets at the end of the post.
Becky (l) and Bianca (r) review Some Like it Hip Hip
Anyone who knows me knows that I’m not exactly a fan of musical theatre or group participation, so it was with some trepidation that I joined Becky for a night of exactly that. I am, however, a fan of Hip Hop, so I was hoping this would carry me through. The first thing that blew me away was the singing. I wasn’t expecting this to be this strong, as I thought this production was mainly about the dancing. That was the second thing that blew me away. It sounds like a cliché, but the enthusiasm and talent of the cast was infectious and by the end of the performance, I was on my feet, jigging away with the rest of the audience. I wanted to dance my way home. The rave reviews Some Like it Hip Hop has received so far are completely justified. Definitely see this if you’re ever in London.
