We've been busy bees at White Stuff and have been
thinking about new initiatives to help make a difference

At White Stuff, our people are at the heart of our brand. Everyone at
White Stuff is part of a 'family', and the family tree not only includes
people in our shops, HQ and Distribution Centre, but also extends
to customers, charities, local communities and our suppliers.

We have a close relationship with our suppliers and work with
them on initiatives such as 'Made for Change' supporting the
education of children in India.

We are committed to giving at least 1% of our annual profits to
charity each year, through the White Stuff Foundation.

Each of our shops supports its own local charity. The Foundation
gives grants to these charities, in addition to funds raised by our
staff and customers.

Stuff and we will continue to work
closely with them and encourage
them to make the world a little
happier too. We will continue to
support our suppliers through their
expansion as we grow.

Everyone at White Stuff is entitled to 2
days paid leave each year to volunteer
in their local communities. Recently,
volunteers from White Stuff’s Head
Office and Richmond shop met at Sign
Health's home for deaf people in
Tooting to spend the day gardening.

We encourage our people to get
together in social groups, so we
have cake baking, pancake
tossing, Christmas decorating
competitions, book clubs, house
teams, pilates, and plenty of
fancy dress competitions.

We match money raised by our employees for their chosen charity up to £250 each time.

In 2010 we set up The White Stuff Foundation
to help and support disadvantaged children
and young people in our local communities.
By helping local charities we will hopefully,
in our own small way, do our bit to make the
world a little happier.

Head Office employees mentor students at IntoUniversity,
an organisation that supports young people from disadvantaged
backgrounds to attain either a university place or another
chosen goal.

The paper for our magalogues and carrier bags is FSC accredited. This means more trees are being planted to replace the ones we use.

We want to be good neighbours to our
people, the planet, and we want to give
something back.

We ask our staff to use public transport or
cycle to get to work, so we offer an interest-free
season ticket loan and run a ‘cycle to work’ scheme.
We buy as much second hand furniture and
furnishings for our shops, like rugs and tables, as
possible. Don’t they look so much better too?

White Stuff is a member of the Ethical Trading Initiative. The
initiative is a way for retailers and organisations to come together
and share learnings, join projects and work closely on supply
chain initiatives that can really bring changes and improvements
for workers in the factories that make our lovely product.

We commit to doing business in a certain way by:
• Demonstrating a clear commitment to ethical trade
• Integrating ethical trade into our core business practices
• Driving year-on-year improvements to working conditions
• Supporting suppliers to improve working conditions

We have a dedicated Ethical Sourcing team whose responsibility
is to ensure the integrity of our supply chain and work closely
with our suppliers. The activities they are involved in include
awareness training for internal teams, workshops with suppliers,
direct communication with workers about their rights and
regular committee meetings with the board of directors.

All suppliers who join the White Stuff family must sign up to our
Ethical Code of Conduct before we do business with them.

• Wages and Hours
• Working conditions
• Environment
• Freedom of association

Each of our factories must demonstrate compliance when
requested through our auditing programme. Once audited,
we work closely with the factories to ensure improvement
plans are in place and that they fully understand the
importance of Ethical Sourcing.

We also think creatively about practical ways to support
workers and their families. Our 'Made for Change' charity
bags
have been sold in shops and online to raise money for
children's scholarships in India. Since 2012, we’ve funded
over 330 children’s scholarships which cover school
and exam fees, uniforms and educational materials.
