Did somebody say spa? Well, after the success of White Stuff in Bath, it's no wonder we decided
to set up shop in that other favourite spa town further up the country - beautiful Buxton!
We got some insider info on what makes this jewel of Derbyshire unique, and what to add to
your must-visit list next time you're in town.

But be prepared, it's not all foot rubs and hydrotherapy...outdoor adventures await!

The Peak District
National Park

If it's awe-inspiring natural beauty interspersed with jaw-dropping history you're after, there's plenty of both on Buxton's doorstep. You can don your walking boots and head out into the moors, but consider exploring some of the Park's villages too. A highlight (if you can call it that) is the 'Plague Village', Eyam, which voluntarily isolated itself when it became infected in 1665.

Devonshire Dome

Built in 1771 by the Duke of Devonshire, this is still the largest unsupported dome in Europe. And now it's also home to the university of Derby and Buxton College, a lovely restuarant/cafe, a hair and beauty salon and a spa. A great place to unwind after all your outdoorsy action (or you could just skip the energetic bit and go straight for the self-indulgence).

Buxton Opera House

Forget Sydney, Buxton's Opera House is a thing of wonder. Built in 1903, its double-domed frontage and elaborate interior is well worth a look-see. And if you have time to burn, there's always plenty on, including one-off shows and long-running festivals. Siehe www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk for more info.

Pavilion Gardens

Situated right in the heart of Buxton are these pretty historic gardens. All 23 acres of them! It's a great place to take the family and very popular in summer, with lots of events held here (don't forget to check what's on before you visit). And conveniently, you'll find Buxton's Tourist Information Centre inside the pavilion. Bonus!

Poole's Cavern

There's no better place to feel healthily insignificant than in vast limestone caverns that have formed over millions of years. Get to know your stalactites from your stalagmites, then take a stroll through beautiful woodland to a panoramic viewing point. It's all so very good for the soul.

Our shop

Last but not least, it's the latest jewel in our crown - our wonderful new shop at 40-42 Spring Gardens. Visit us to discover all our trademark touches, like reclaimed furniture and unique décor. And this time, we've custom designed a staircase and made a gallery of screenprints, designed by our in-house print makers. It's quite simply lovely, even if we do say so ourselves.

Pop in and visit us at: 40/42 Spring Gardens, Buxton, SK17 6BZ
