We met with the Righton family on Old Farm in
Dorn, Moreton-in-Marsh, who have been running
their farm for over three generations. The brilliant
Farm Shop stocks meat from the farm, plus local
produce including veg, bread and ice cream. Plus
there’s an on-site campsite and B&B.

We sat down with Simon, Sarah, Sam & Meg plus
the dogs BB and Bonnie and learned about life and
labour out in the countryside, the history of the
farm, farming in the Cotswolds, rearing meat and
the local producers.

'Old Farm' facts

• Nigel Slater & Adam Henson filmed their
cookery show
'Nigel and Adam’s Farm Kitchen'
in 2013, right there in the farm shop.
• They are growing 40 hectares of wheat
– enough to provide everyone in the village of
Moreton-in-Marsh with one loaf of bread per
week for a year!
• Open Farm Sunday happens annually in
where hundreds of people flock to the
farm to enjoy sheep shearing, cider tasting,
ractor rides and more.
• They produce their own breed of pig,
‘Glamrock’ produced from their old
Gloucestershire Old Spot sows.
• All produce sold in the farm shop is
sourced within 39 miles of Dorn with most
items travelling less than 14 miles to get there.
Good news for food miles!
