Jamie's seven hour* meals crafternoons
  • 700g stewing steak, cut into chunks
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 30g plain flour
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 peppers, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp tomato puree
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • 2 large diced tomatoes
  • 75ml dry white wine
  • 300ml beef stock
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 150ml soured cream

Preheat the oven to 170C/gas 3. Heat the olive oil in a
casserole dish or heavy-based saucepan. Flour the steak
and brown well in the hot casserole dish. Put the meat in
a bowl and pour the remaining olive oil into the
casserole dish. Add the onion, garlic, green pepper and
red pepper to the casserole dish and fry until softened.
Put the beef back in with tomato puree and paprika.
Cook for 2 minutes. Stir in the tomatoes with the beef
stock and wine. Cover and bake in the oven for 1 hour 30
minutes. Alternatively, cover and cook it on the hob on a
gentle heat for about an hour, removing the lid after 45
minutes. Sprinkle the parsley and season well with salt
and freshly ground pepper. Serve with sour cream.

(Make this one veggie - just add sweet potato, courgettes
and aubergines, roughly chopped and cook for 1 hour
instead of 2. Use veggie stock instead of beef)
