It's the shape we always revert to, but far from it being the death of the skinny jean this season we're giving them a new lease of life. The best person for the job? Fashion blogger Kathryn Sharman from Kat Got The Cream. Cue a new way to wear your trusty denim soulmates.
It's easy for me to get stuck in a bit of a style rut at this time of year, pulling on the same old pair of jeans and wearing them with whatever's warm and winter-proof. But then again there are few options that are as easy and practical as denim, which is why I'll always end up returning to it.
While skinny jeans might not be my first choice just after Christmas (some baggy jogging bottoms often feel quite tempting right about now), a slim-fitting pair of jeans can help to give you shape with comfort if they have the right amount of stretch.
I wore this outfit during a recent weekend away and it was perfect for a relaxed stroll by the riverside, followed by coffee and papers in the cafe and a wander around a gallery.
I don't like to feel too dressed up on a Sunday but it's nice to feel like you've made an effort too. I often wear striped Breton tops or sweaters with jeans but I thought I'd try some stripey knitwear for a change and this cardigan will be really versatile especially when the weather starts to warm up a bit (soon I hope).
It’s also nice to break away from the same blue denim washes I already have in my wardrobe and try something a bit different. This darker grey colour jean is flattering and works well with white and pastels for spring, while also being slightly smarter so you can easily dress it up.
For a night out I’d keep the tee and swap in a black blazer or leather jacket with some heels (and maybe a swipe of red lipstick too).
