Cure your itchy feet and use our handy quiz to choose your perfect holiday destination.
Ooh la la! Grab a French stick and explore what is
widely regarded as the most romantic city in the
world. Scale the Eiffel Tower, stroll along the
Champs-Élysées and admire Mona Lisa at the Louvre.
You’ll get a great view of the city from the Arc de
Triomphe. The best (and cheapest) way to see Paris is
to walk, so spend some time wandering its cobbled
streets and sampling local delicacies. Visit bars in
trendy Bastille and Le Marais in the evening (we like Andy Wahloo, 69, rue des Gravilliers, Paris) and go to
dinner at snazzy Le Meurice (228 rue de Rivoli).
Sometimes great holidays can be found in the most
unexpected places. Unassuming Bognor has more to
offer than initially meets the eye. Family favourite Butlins has had a recent make-over and is more
entertaining than ever. Grab some fish and chips by
the seafront and have a paddle. Who needs a plane
ticket when everything you need for a fun-packed
summer can be found right here in Blighty.
Good food, good weather and good-looking people;
what’s not to love about Italy? Sicily is one of the hottest
Italian locations at the moment, and for good reason. The
baroque beauty of Catania contrasts with the city’s
modern capital, Palermo. While you’re there, try some
‘Sette Veli’ cake which features seven layers of chocolate
(Pasticceria Cappello, Via Colonna Rotta 6). Work it off
by visiting impressive Mount Etna (if the time is right)
and charming Taormina. Stay the night in Villa Barone
(Via Leonardo da Vinci 47-a 98039 Taormina).
Take in Austin’s amazing music scene, have no problems
in Houston and ride some horses. Texas has amazing
landscape and rugged outdoor adventures galore. Stay at
a Texas Guest Ranch (the Wildcatter Ranch and the Mayan Dude Ranch are two good ones) and learn the
famous Texas Two-Step dance. Billy Bob’s Honky Tonk
(2520 Rodeo Plaza, Fort Worth) and the Broken Spoke Dance Hall (3201 S Lamar Blvd, Austin) give free dance
lessons most Thursdays.
