HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR DENIM

Not to brag, but we’ve got great jeans. They’re made to last.

And with the right care, they’ll go even longer. Here’s how.

DO LESS LAUNDRY (YES, REALLY)

See how long you can go without throwing your jeans in the wash. It may sound odd, but over-washing your denim can affect the fit and colour. Instead, try airing them out after each wear. And spot clean when needed.

WHEN THEY REALLY NEED A WASH

When you can’t put it off any longer, here’s what you do.

  • Zip up, button up and turn those jeans inside out. This’ll help to prevent fading.
  • Don’t overload the washing machine. This can cause them to crease.
  • Washing a new pair? Wash them alone. New denim can sometimes bleed in water and transfer colour to other clothes.
  • Use the hand wash setting and a gentle detergent.
  • Stick to 30° to avoid any shrinking or fading.
  • Tumble drying can change the look and feel of denim. So air dry where possible. And dry them inside out to avoid damp pockets.

WEAR, TEAR AND CARE

A few more top tips. (To keep your denim looking tip top.)

  • Adjusting your jeans? Don't hike them up by the belt loops. Grab the waistband instead. This helps to avoid straining (and eventually, ripping) the loops.
  • If rips or tears do happen, have a go at mending them. (Or ask a crafty friend to have a go.) Or, if the rip doesn’t bother you, lean into the look.
  • Store your jeans by hanging them by the waistband or keeping them folded in a drawer. Avoid draping them over hangers (this can cause creasing and stretching).
  • If they need it, steam your jeans rather than ironing them. Direct heat isn’t great for denim.
